Viewers to get chance to experience iPONT's 3DTV without glasses solution as part of Wimbledon men's final live 3DTV screening experiment Oxford - 29 June, 2011: iPONT International is showcasing its 3D TV without glasses technology at BBC Television Centre as part of the BBC's 3D broadcast experiment during the Wimbledon Championship men's final. On Sunday 3 July, screen supplier 3D Exposure, powered by iPONT's glasses free 3D technology come together to supply 42" and 65" auto-stereoscopic (glasses-free) screens as part of the BBC's first free-to-air 3D trial. Presented alongside other 3D TV technologies, iPONT & 3D Exposure will give visitors an opportunity to see what 3D without glasses looks like. We're also looking forward to their feedback as it will be immensely valuable for our ongoing product development." iPONT International will demonstrate its technology to the ticketed crowd on a wide-angle auto-stereoscopic (glasses-free) 3D LCD display with an iPONT 3D TV Box, a proprietary set-top box that streams real-time 3D broadcast content from BBC 3D trial. The 3D auto-stereoscopic LCD displays, available in screen sizes from 27" to 65" (and even in portrait format), provide detail from a colour palette with no image ‘ghosting'. The displays can be viewed in daytime conditions and feature a wide viewing cone of 120° mirroring the same conditions a TV set is used in the home. iPONT's 3D TV box technology, available as a set-top box, converts any stereo 3D broadcast/streamed signal into real-time auto-stereoscopic one for use on glasses-free 3D TVs and displays. The 3D TV box can handle Internet, satellite, cable and terrestrial services that stream 3D content directly into the home or business. The event is part of a wider public experimental 3D screening of the men's singles final which is also taking place in a select number of UK cinemas around the country. License payers were able to apply for free tickets via a random draw which took place between Wednesday 8th and Monday 13th June.
