Leading Direct-to-Home satellite operator and glasses-free 3D innovator to demonstrate glasses-free 3D TV technology is ready for the consumer market
iPONT International, an innovator and technology partner in the glasses-free 3D market, and SES Astra, an SES company (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) will demonstrate ‘live' 3D broadcasts on glasses-free 3DTV technology on SES stand 1.B51 at IBC 2011. The demonstration, by Europe's leading satellite operator and the glasses-free innovator, aims to prove that without-glasses 3DTV technologies have reached a level of maturity and quality acceptable to the consumer market.
Successful pilot at Walkabout demonstrates an appetite for viewing 3D TV without glasses
Oxford - 7 June, 2011 In a landmark technology demonstration, iPONT, an innovator and technology partner in the glasses-free 3D market, today announced the successful ‘real-time' conversion of a Sky 3D satellite broadcast signal into one for use on a without-glasses (auto-stereoscopic) 3D TV. The successful decoding and conversion of a standard 3D TV broadcast signal through iPONT's proprietary 3D TV box could potentially allow the TV industry to dispense with active and passive eye-wear for 3D TVs - paving the way for mainstream without-glasses 3D TV in the home.
In a landmark technology demonstration, iPONT, pilots its 3DTV Without Glasses technology at the Walkabout, Covent Garden on 28th May 2011 during the UEFA Champions League Cup Final between Manchester United and Barcelona.
Fans and industry were invited down to be some of the first to watch the match in London bar on a 3D screen which doesn't require glasses to view.
